Annual Return for Volunteer Centres

At a local level, the generic volunteering infrastructure is primarily provided by a network of Volunteer Centres. IVR is commissioned annually by Volunteering England to undertake a systematic survey of the activities of all Volunteer Centres in England. The data represents the most reliable evidence we have on the Volunteer Centre network and is invaluable for Volunteering England to work effectively. The results are used by Volunteering England to develop their policy, campaigning and communication work on behalf of Volunteer Centres as well as to inform the ongoing development work carried out by the Infrastructure Development Team. IVR also benefits from the data as it feeds into a number of other research projects.

Aims

The survey asks questions around a wide range of areas including funding, brokerage, the other core functions of Volunteer Centres, the challenges facing the network and their primary support needs.

Methods

The survey is sent electronically to all accredited Volunteer Centres in England. The survey for the 2010-11 response has now closed and we have received a response rate of approximately 75%. Analysis of the results is currently underway and the results will be published shortly on the websites of IVR and Volunteering England.
