New seminar series on volunteering – lifecourse, lifestyles and wellbeing

We’re delighted to say that we’ll once more be working with the ESRC and Northumbria University to deliver an exciting seminar series over the next two years, held throughout the UK.

Over the course of six free events we will bring together academic speakers, policy makers and practitioners to explore challenges and opportunities facing volunteering at different stages of someone’s life; in childhood and amongst young people, during ‘working age’ years, and in later life. In doing so we will examine issues including pathways, legacy, culture and benefits, connections to paid work and job substitution, and links between volunteering and well-being. Our first seminar, exploring young people’s perspectives on volunteering, will be held during Volunteers Week, the first week of June at Northumbria University in Newcastle-upon-Tyne.

We’ll be announcing more details soon, including the speakers, but if you’d like to find out more or provisionally book your place, please email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or visit www.ivr.org.uk/events.
