Cathy Pharoah is Professor of Charity Funding and Co-Director of the ESRC Research Centre for Charitable Giving and Philanthropy Research at Cass Business School (CGAP). CGAP is the first UK Centre with dedicated funding to study charitable giving. She produces the annual Charity Market Monitor, which updates annual figures on the income and expenditure of the UK’s top 500 fundraising charities. Educated at Edinburgh University and the London School of Economics, Cathy Pharoah was Director of Research at Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) for 11 years. She is Chair of the Advisory Group for the Northern Rock Foundation’s Third Sector Trends Study, treasurer of the Voluntary Sector Studies Network (VSSN), Assistant Editor of Voluntary Sector Review, and a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
